We are currently onboarding for the spring 2026 cohort.
Seattle ACS Micromobility Operational Detachments is a new approach to community based disaster response. Coming out of lessons learned from the 2011 Japan Tsunami and the 2017 Mexico City Earthquake. As a region that will suffer catastrophic roadway damage in the event of a major disaster, We are applying the learned experiences from these past events to create a resilience network within the city of Seattle.
Training with MOD is a moderate commitment. We are looking for persons willing and able to join 6 person teams that will be distributed throughout the city and will assist the City of Seattle Auxiliary Communications Service in stabilizing communication and reconnoitering damage after a major disruption event.
Requirements:
- Competent Cyclist, topping the 7 hills of Seattle in less than 4 hours
- Willing to commit to training one Sunday a month
- Attending one 90 minute meeting month
- Interest in learning new skills
- Completion of ICS certificates and obtaining a GMRS radio license
